Maintenance Plans
We’ve cleaned hundreds of ponds and fountains and have seen it all —pristine water features that enhance a yard and neglected ones that become a headache. When properly maintained, they provide soothing sights and sounds and a visually stunning focal point for any outdoor space. But without care, they can become dirty, smelly, and clogged, with pumps and filters failing over time.
The key factor is regular maintenance. Even the best equipment can’t catch everything, and nothing beats manually clearing debris and applying water treatment. Too often, people delay upkeep, don’t do it frequently enough, or simply don’t know what proper maintenance involves. This guide is here to help.
Listed below are the options we offer, along with who they are best suited for:
🌱 Minimum: Spring Cleaning
Best for low-maintenance ponds or those who prefer to handle upkeep themselves but need a thorough seasonal reset. Ideal for smaller features or ponds without heavy debris and fish. Typically not adequate, especially if you run your feature year-round.
🌱🍂 Standard: Spring & Fall Cleaning
Our recommended and best-value option. Our spring cleaning prepares your feature for clean and smooth operation all season long, and in the fall, we remove accumulated summer waste and make necessary adjustments to protect it through winter.

🌱☀️🍂 Comprehensive: Spring & Fall Cleaning, Mid-Summer Maintenance

Minimum: Spring Cleaning
- Drain and remove leaves, algae, fish waste, and other debris
- Clear filtration system, install winterized equipment (pump, UV bulb, etc.)
- Refill with clean water and apply treatment to promote biofiltration
Why Spring Pond Cleaning is Important
Neglecting spring maintenance can lead to:
❌ Bad Appearance & Odor – Murky water, foul smells, and unattractive buildup ruin the pond’s look
❌ Leaf Buildup – Decaying debris turns into sludge, releasing toxic gases and clouding water
❌ Algae Growth – Excess nutrients from organic waste fuel blooms as temperatures rise
❌ Clogged Equipment – Pumps and filters struggle, leading to inefficiency and potential failure
❌ Poor Fish Health – Low oxygen levels and waste buildup increase stress and disease risk
For year-round ponds, regular cleaning is especially important to prevent equipment damage and maintain water quality.
